Aligarh,
28 May (HS): The continuing police investigation into the Harduaganj mob
violence case has taken a turn after a test analysis verified that the
confiscated meat sample did not belong to a cow or any of its descendants, according
to a police official. This disclosure follows a violent mob attack on four
individuals on May 24, who were suspected of carrying illegal cow flesh. SP
Rural Amrit Jain stated on Wednesday that police promptly removed the victims
from the crowd and admitted them to the hospital.
The
meat sample was sent to a government laboratory for examination. The forensic
examination on the meat sample revealed that it was not from a cow or any cow
descendant. We are investigating
the entire sequence of events and will take action based on our findings,
Jain stated. The official stated that four people identified in the victims'
FIR had already been detained, with further arrests likely as police look for
others implicated. The first report
mentioned 12 accused assailants and 25 nameless individuals.
Meanwhile,
opposition leaders from various parties, including members of Parliament who
visited Aligarh following the attempted lynching, have sought strict punishment
for all those engaged in the incident. Sanjay Singh, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)
MP who visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital on Tuesday, told
reporters that the Harduaganj mob attack was just another attempt to polarise
society. He has asked for a fast-track court to hear the case. On Tuesday, a
team from the Congress party, including MP Imran Masood and former MP Kunwar
Danish Ali, visited the four injured men at the hospital. A team of Samajwadi
Party (SP) officials, led by Rajya Sabha member Ramji Lal Suman, is set to
arrive in Aligarh on Wednesday to speak with the victims.
