Kolkata, 28 May (H.S.): Covid-19 cases in West Bengal are showing a gradual uptick once again. According to a senior official from the state health department, five new infections were detected in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of active cases to 16.
Of the newly infected, three patients are recovering at home, while two have been admitted to hospital. The official said, “Most of the cases are mild, and the situation remains under control.”
Although there is no immediate cause for concern, the health department has urged people to remain cautious. Experts believe that seasonal changes and public complacency could lead to a further increase in cases, underlining the importance of vigilance and preventive measures.
The state government has renewed its appeal for strict adherence to Covid protocols. Citizens are being advised to wear masks in crowded areas, maintain hand hygiene, and follow basic precautions.
While the current situation in Bengal is not deemed critical, the health department has instructed local authorities to be on standby for rapid response if the situation escalates.
Notably, Covid-19 cases have been rising steadily across several parts of India, prompting concerns over a potential resurgence of the virus.
