Ramban, 28 May (H.S.): The Batote-Kishtwar National Highway (NH-244) has been blocked at Fagumarh near Kandni in Kishtwar area due to massive landslides and falling of boulders late last evening causing disruption in traffic on the busy highway.

Reports said that the Batote-Kishtwar highway was closed due to falling of boulders at Fagumarh, about 16 kms short of Kishtwar town late last evening causing disruption in traffic on the highway. Due to blockade there has been shortage of vegetables and fruits in Kishtwar area.

Soon after the blockage, man and machinery of the NHIDCL authorities swung into action and are working to clear the road as early as possible. However, a senior official indicated that road will be restored by tomorrow. He said the blockade occurred due to blasting by road construction company and District administration has taken serious note of it.

The Kishtwar-Batote National Highway (NH-244) is indeed a crucial artery for the region, and its blockage at Fagumarh due to massive boulder slides is a significant disruption. This road is the primary connection to the sacred Machail Mata Temple for pilgrims coming from other parts of the Union Territory and country.

For travelers and pilgrims planning to visit Machail Mata Temple, it’s essential to check for real-time road status updates. Before embarking on the journey, verify the current condition of NH-244, especially the Fagumarh stretch, from official sources like local administration, police or traffic control room.

Meanwhile, transshipment has been started since morning and facilities like drinking water and others are being provided to the passengers at the site.
