Guwahati, 28 May (HS): On the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day, Assam Police organized a special awareness program on menstrual hygiene management for women police officers under the 'Shishu Mitra Program'. The program was conducted in collaboration with Guwahati Police Commissionerate and 10th Assam Police Battalion.
This day is celebrated to break the social stigma associated with menstruation and spread awareness related to hygiene. Women police personnel often face lack of menstrual hygiene facilities during field duty. This can lead to serious health problems, which not only affect their professional performance but also have a negative impact on confidence and mental health.
Two sessions of the program were organized- the first at Guwahati Police Commissionerate and the second at 10th Assam Police Battalion. Menstrual hygiene expert Swetangana Bhuiyan Jha led the sessions. They informed about effective menstrual hygiene measures and stressed the need to create a workplace that protects women police personnel from social stigma and promotes their overall health.
Sijal Agarwal, IPS, Commandant, 10th APBn; Alina Terongpi, APS, DCP; Gitanjali Dalai, APS; Dr. Nabmita Das, ADCP; Maitreyi Deka, APS; Jupi Bardalai, APS, Second in Command of 10th APBn and Barsha Das, APS, Assistant Commandant, 10th APBn also attended the sessions.---------------
