Budaun,
28 May (HS): On Wednesday, the court set July 5 to hear the Neelkanth Mahadev
Temple-Shamsi Jama Masjid case. Suman
Tiwari, Civil Judge, Senior Division, was unable to hold the hearing due to the
absence of Shamsi Jama Masjid Intezamia Committee counsel Asrar Ahmed, who has
left for Haj. Judge Tiwari scheduled the
next hearing for July 5 and requested that both parties appear in court to
explain their arguments. Advocate Ved
Prakash Sahu of the Neelkanth Temple side stated that the case file has been
transferred from the fast track court to the court of Civil Judge, senior
division. In an earlier hearing on April 21, Civil Judge Pushpendra Chaudhary
of the Fast Track Court stated that he will check the case file before advancing.
Mukesh Patel, the then-convenor of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, claimed in
2022 that the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple existed on the site of the Jama Masjid
Shamsi mosque and requested permission to worship there. The claim is at the
root of the dispute.
