Senapati (Manipur), 28 May (HS): Security forces have seized about 2.4 kg of suspected brown sugar in a major operation in Senapati district of Manipur. A police spokesperson said on Wednesday that the operation was carried out during a checking and search operation at Bisho Bridge under Maram police station area.

According to the information, the security forces stopped a Bolero pick-up vehicle, which was being driven by 45-year-old Mayrangam Khokhar, a resident of Kalahang village (Ukhrul district). He was accompanied by 34-year-old Nima Sherpa, resident of Sadim Naga village (Senapati district), in the vehicle.

During the search, about 2.4 kgs of suspected brown sugar was recovered from 220 soap boxes hidden inside the body of the vehicle. The seized drugs and the accused have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action.

Security forces have said that such intensive search operations against drug peddlers will continue.---------------
