Lucknow, 27 May (HS): The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is committed to the
empowerment of the disabled. In this sequence, the government has instructed
the officials to ensure the distribution of free motorized tricycles to
eligible Divyangjans in each district under the Assisted Disabled Empowerment
(ADIP) Scheme of the Government of India. Under the leadership of Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath, it is being ensured that all eligible Divyangjans are
provided free motorized tricycles and assistive devices in a timely and
transparent manner, so that they can lead a self-reliant and respectable life.
It is noteworthy that for the financial year 2025-26, a budget provision of Rs
37.40 crore has been made for prosthetic limbs and assistive devices and Rs 2
crore for the distribution of motorized tricycles.
UP Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes Welfare and
Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Narendra Kashyap held an important
meeting in his office at the Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday and reviewed the welfare
schemes for persons with disabilities. He said Yogi Government has asked the
Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities to prepare a coordinated
action plan in collaboration with ALIMCO so that the full benefit of the
allocated budget reaches the needy. The minister stressed on preparing an
accurate and updated list of beneficiaries of motorized tricycles on the Arjun
portal. He directed to regularly update the information on the portal to
prevent duplication and make the distribution process completely transparent.
He also asked to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out and the list
should be re-verified before finalizing it.
Narendra Kashyap said that the aim of the Yogi government is to make the
disabled self-reliant. For this, the distribution process should be made
simple, quick and transparent. He said that recently 100 motorized tricycles
have been distributed to the disabled in each Lok Sabha constituency. Now there
is a plan to expand this initiative further and provide benefits to all the
needy on the basis of demand and eligibility.
Principal Secretary Subhash Chandra Sharma, MD Praveen Kumar, General Manager
Vivek Dwivedi (ALIMCO), Assistant Manager Pankaj Dwivedi along with
departmental officers and Government of India officials were present in the
meeting through video conference.
