27 May (HS): The Bareilly Police and Special Operations Group (SOG) made a
breakthrough against narcotics trafficking on Tuesday, arresting four accused
drug traffickers with over one kilogram of smack worth approximately Rs 1 crore
on the international market, according to a senior officer. The arrests
occurred at Kumhra, which is part of the Izzatnagar police station area. The
authorities discovered 996 grams of smack, four Android mobile phones, and a
vehicle in the accused's hands.
Manish
Parik, Additional Superintendent of Police (City), named the arrested persons
as Nasruddin, Kaleem Ahmad, Bachchan, and Tasleem. During interrogation,
Nasruddin stated that he had worked in the transportation industry, where he
met people from Manipur who pushed him to join in smack trafficking.
He
eventually collaborated with his accomplices Kaleem, Bachchan, and Tasleem to
carry on the unlawful enterprise. The accused acknowledged to traveling to
Manipur by rail or bus to get smack, which they would then conceal and smuggle
back in trucks, canters, or other vehicles. Kaleem, a driver, was actively
involved in the scam and had made numerous such trips. On Tuesday, the four
were on their way from Shahjahanpur to sell the contraband when they were
stopped by authorities near Kumhra. A complaint has been filed under several provisions
of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).
