Udhampur, 27 May (H.S.): National Conference (NC) additional general secretary and former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra on Sunday reiterated his party’s commitment to the holistic development of far-flung and remote areas, asserting that improving the ease of living for people in these regions remains a top priority for the Omar Abdullah-led Government in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a public meeting at Lati, organised by Akash Verma and Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Sadhotra highlighted the sustained efforts of successive NC Governments in placing Lati on the developmental map of J&K. He recalled how former Chief Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah accelerated the region’s growth by nominating Wazira Begum for two consecutive terms.

Sadhotra vowed to carry forward this developmental mission with renewed focus, saying inclusive development lies at the heart of NC’s philosophy, aimed at bridging the rural-urban divide and ensuring basic amenities for all.

Responding to public grievances, Sadhotra assured residents that he would pursue the resumption of the Sudh Mahadev-Marmat Tunnel project, citing its potential to enhance connectivity and reduce travel time. He also supported the demand for setting up an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Lati to promote skill development and employability among local youth.

Endorsing calls for sports infrastructure, Sadhotra backed the establishment of a sports stadium in the area to channelise youth energy positively. He further urged the Government to establish a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Lati and address the shortage of teaching staff in local schools, stressing that healthcare and education must be strengthened simultaneously for meaningful development.
