Kaushambi,
27 May (HS): Two brothers were detained on Tuesday for performing surgery on a
five-year-old kid while acting as physicians at a private hospital on Charwa
Manuri Road, police said. The youngster died during the procedure. On March 16,
Ram Asre, a Siriyawa Kala village resident, filed a complaint against Anmol
Hospital, stating that his son, Divyanshu, was handled irresponsibly in the
absence of a senior doctor, resulting in his death, according to Superintendent
of Police Rajesh Kumar.
A case
was then filed in the Charwa police station under Section 105 (penalty for
culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the BNS. On May 25, police
detained Vikas Kumar (26) and Vishesh Kumar (25), both from Kaushambi district,
in connection with the minor's death. During interrogation, the suspects
revealed that they founded the Anmol Hospital in the name of their brother
Sanjay Kumar. Police said the brothers presented themselves as physicians
despite not having a medical degree. On March 16, Asre admitted his son for
treatment at Anmol Hospital. When the
surgeon scheduled to operate on Divyanshu's leg failed to arrive at the
hospital on time, the brothers took matters into their own hands. They then
operated on Divyanshu, removing an iron rod from his leg, and the boy died,
according to authorities. The same day, Divyanshu's parents filed a complaint,
which resulted in the registration of a case and the beginning of the police
investigation. After the event, the Kaushambi Chief Medical Officer shut the
private hospital in March.
