New Delhi, May 27 (HS): The public sector telecommunications company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced the results for the fourth quarter (January-March) of the fiscal year 2024-25. BSNL has recorded a profit for the second consecutive quarter. The company reported a profit of ₹280 crores in the fourth quarter ending March 31, 2025.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the company mentioned that BSNL recorded a profit of ₹280 crores for the January-March quarter of the fiscal year 2024-25, which ended on March 31, 2025. The company had a net profit of ₹261 crores in the third quarter. This marks the second consecutive quarter in which the company has been profitable. In the same period of the previous financial year, the company had incurred a loss of ₹849 crores.
According to the company, with profits for two consecutive quarters, its loss for the fiscal year 2024-25 has decreased from ₹5,370 crores on an annual basis to ₹2,247 crores. Similarly, BSNL's operating income for the fiscal year 2024-25 has increased by 7.8% year-on-year from ₹19,330 crores to ₹20,841 crores.
Union Telecommunications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated in a released statement that BSNL has recorded profits for two consecutive quarters for the first time in 17 years. Scindia noted that as BSNL moves forward on the path of profitability, it has registered a robust net profit of ₹280 crores for the January-March quarter of the fiscal year 2024-25, following the profit of ₹261 crores in the third quarter of the fiscal year 2024-25. The Telecommunications Minister said that BSNL's continuous improvement reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi's focused and reform-driven leadership.
Meanwhile, A. Robert J. Ravi, Chairman and Managing Director (MD) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, said, This rapid transformation is a testament to professional management, government support, and continuous focus on both revenue and profit. He added that BSNL is not only being revived but is also being reformed.
