Guwahati, 27 May (HS): A pre-kharif agriculture campaign named 'Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan' will be run by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, across the country from May 29 to June 12. The objective of this campaign is to make 1 to 1.5 crore farmers in 700 districts of the country aware about agriculture and related fields. In Assam state also, this campaign will be started with the target of covering 26 districts, 3250 villages and more than five lakh farmers. This information was given by the State Organization Secretary of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Krishnakant Bora, in a press conference held today at Alok Bhawan in Bharalumukh, Guwahati.

He said that under this campaign, 52 teams have been formed by including the Agriculture Department, related departments and agricultural scientists. The main objectives of this campaign are to promote sustainable technologies that help in the productivity of Kharif crops, use of fertilizers on the basis of soil health card, study the problems of the agricultural sector and prepare a primary research framework.

In the past years too, the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh has made collective efforts with the cooperation of various government departments, administration and farmers' society for the all-round development of farmers. The Sangh believes that the vision of capable, self-reliant farmers and self-reliant villages can be realized through a comprehensive study of the basic problems of farmers and collective efforts. Only if every village becomes self-reliant, we can imagine a prosperous India.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has urged the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh to participate in this campaign and government departments to include the Kisan Sangh in it. The Sangh has expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for this and congratulated the Agriculture Department and ICAR. All the village level committees of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh will fully cooperate in this campaign and all the farmers' society of Assam has been requested to take advantage by participating in the campaign.

In the press conference, the Kisan Sangh demanded concrete action from the government on the problems of the Krishak Registration Portal. In which-

Many farmers of Assam are not able to register in the Krishak Registration Portal due to their name not being in the land lease. Even if the name of the farmer's mother, father or grandfather is in the lease, the facility of registration should be given in the portal.

Real farmers who become self-reliant by cultivating Tamul, betel leaf, coconut, ginger, turmeric, fruits etc. on settlement land should also be given the facility of registration. For this, demarcation and survey of land is necessary.

Farmers who are making a living by farming on land purchased from others, but are not able to register their name in the portal due to their name not being in the land lease, should get the facility of registration on the basis of land purchase document.

Farmers who are cultivating land taken from sessions or other institutions should be given the right to register on the basis of lease documents.

The genuine Khalihania farmers cultivating the land given by the Forest Department should also be given the right to registration, provided they have valid documents and proof of land ownership etc.

The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh has requested the government to take positive steps towards connecting the farmers to the portal by resolving all the above problems soon.--------------
