Guwahati/New Delhi, 27 May (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at Rail Bhavan here on Tuesday.
During this, detailed discussions were held on removing old transport bottlenecks through expansion of rail infrastructure in Assam and the Northeast region. The two leaders also brainstormed on modernization of technologies, improvement in data sharing, optimization of work processes and possibilities of cooperation.
In the meeting, Railway Minister Vaishnav acknowledged that strengthening and expanding rail infrastructure is an important step towards developing a logistics hub in Assam.
Assam Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. KK Dwivedi and Resident Commissioner of Assam Bhawan Kavita Padmanabhan were present in this meeting. The meeting lasted for about an hour.
Later, Chief Minister Sarma wrote on social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter) - It is always a pleasure to meet Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. Today there was a detailed discussion on the expansion of Assam's rail infrastructure and efforts to remove old transport bottlenecks. All these efforts are important steps towards making the state a logistics hub.---------------
