Udhampur, 26 May (H.S.): A sudden spell of heavy rainfall accompanied by a severe storm last evening caused widespread damage in Ghordi Block, District Udhampur, leaving several families homeless and in distress.

Among the worst affected are Abbul Ghani, son of Jalal Din and Shamsh Din son of Jalal Din, residents of Bindla Pyt, Ward No. 4, Block Ghordi, Tehsil Ramnagar. Their homes suffered significant destruction, leaving them in urgent need of assistance.

Former Chairperson of Block Development Council (BDC), Ghordi, Arti Sharma, visited the affected area today to assess the situation. She has also raised the matter with the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Ramnagar, urging officials to personally monitor the situation and ensure prompt assistance. The SDM has assured that relief efforts are being prioritized.
