Jammu, 26 May (H.S.): BJP spokesperson for Jammu & Kashmir and former deputy Mayor of Jammu, Advocate Purnima Sharma today criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to Poonch, calling it a “mere publicity stunt” lacking genuine concern or purpose.
In a press statement issued, Sharma said Gandhi’s visit came “too late and without direction” at a time when the people of Poonch had already endured significant challenges without any visible support from the Congress leader.
“When the people of Poonch needed support, relief, and leadership the most, he was nowhere to be seen. Now, he suddenly shows up for the cameras, it looks more like a PR exercise than genuine concern,” she said.
Drawing a comparison with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s response, Sharma highlighted the swift action taken by BJP workers on the ground under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
She said, “True leaders act when people need them, not just when the media is watching.”
Sharma also alleged that the Congress party has lost touch with the grassroots in Jammu & Kashmir and is now relying on staged appearances to remain in public discourse.
“The Congress has lost its connect with the ground. Rahul Gandhi’s visit was all show and no substance, just another attempt to stay in the news,” she added.
“Jammu & Kashmir needs more than empty speeches. It needs dedicated leaders, regular presence and solid work, which the BJP has consistently delivered under PM Modi’s leadership,” she concluded.
