Bharatiya Janata Party’s former MLA R T Deshmukh died in a car accident near

Belkund village on Latur-Ausa Road. His car met with an accident on Monday

afternoon around 4.20 pm, when the driver lost control of the car after water

on the road splashed on the windscreen. Deshmukh and his driver were returning

to Latur from Tuljapur. Deshmukh and the driver received serious injuries and

were rushed to a private hospital. Deshmukh died on the way to the hospital.

The critically injured driver is being treated. The accident was so harsh that

the car was completely mangled.

R T Deshmukh was a legislator

from Majalgaon constituency from 2014 to 2019. He was defeated by NCP candidate

Prakash Solanke in 2019 by a margin of about 37,000 votes. Deshmukh, popularly

known as Jija, made a great contribution to the social and political fields.
