Jaunpur, 26 May (HS): An elderly man and his two sons were
hacked to death by unknown attackers in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur district,
police reported on Monday. The incident took place on Sunday night at the
Kachgaon underpass, when several unidentified persons attacked Lalji and his sons,
Guddu (33) and Yaadveer (25) with large blunt weapons such as iron rods and
hammers, smashing their skulls, according to witnesses. According to Zafarabad
Superintendent of Police Dr. Kaustubh, Lalji, a native of Mehmadpur Kandh
village, ran a fabrication workshop and was working there with his sons when
they were assaulted. The intruders then hauled the bodies into an adjacent room
and locked them inside, he claimed.
The bodies were found on Monday morning by an acquaintance of
Lalji, who informed the police after finding blood in the workplace. Multiple
police teams responded to the scene, and the remains were taken for post-mortem
examination. The SP reported that forensic experts retrieved a mobile phone, an
iron rod, and other evidence from the crime site. According to police sources,
the digital video recorder (DVR) of the CCTV system placed at the location was
missing, and was most likely taken by the assassins to eliminate any visual
proof. The triple murder sparked a protest by family and townspeople, who
gathered at the location and tried to block the route many times. However,
senior police calmed the throng and kept the situation under control.
A large police force has been dispatched in the region, and an
investigation is ongoing. Additional Director General of Police Piyush Mordia and Deputy
Inspector General Vaibhav Krishna went to the crime scene and directed the
creation of a special police squad to catch the perpetrators. A thorough
investigation is underway in the case.
