Nagpur, 26 May (HS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah
performed bhoomipujan of temporary accommodation for families of cancer
patients at Nagpur’s National Cancer Institute. The facility has been named ‘Swasti
Nivas Panthagar’. Shah appreciated the service to the affected families by
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shailesh Joglekar's family who has converted
his personal pain into public service to reduce the pain of others.
Shah said the National Cancer Institute in Nagpur was a dream project of Fadnavis, whose father died of cancer. He worked hard since
2012 to realise his dream and the institute was established in 2023 in phases.
When the work on establishing the Institute started, Fadnavis had nothing in
hand. The work gained pace after he became the Chief Minister. He understood
and followed the saying Service to society is service to God. The
family members of a cancer patient also suffer. Their pain is reduced to some
extent by developing the Swasti Nivas Panthagar, Shah said. He advised the
staff and management to continue with the service and improve it further.
