Bhubaneswar, 27 February (H.S.): Lalit Basant Ghadei, the former Grama Rojagar Sevak (GRS) of Ender Gram Panchayat under Derabis Panchayat Samiti, Kendrapara district, was convicted in a vigilance trap case on February 27, 2025. Ghadei, who was disengaged from his service, was found guilty of demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant for the release of a security amount related to a cement concrete road project in Ender GP.
The conviction came after the Odisha Vigilance had charged him under sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack, sentenced Ghadei to rigorous imprisonment for 4 years and imposed a fine of Rs. 1,000.
Following the verdict, the convict was taken into judicial custody to serve his sentence.
