Chennai, 25 February (H.S.) : The Hindu Munnani leader murder case has been a complex and intriguing one. Sasikumar, a spokesperson for Hindu Munnani, was brutally hacked to death in Coimbatore on September 22, 2016.
According to police sources, the investigation was initially handled by the Tamil Nadu Police, but was later taken over by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The murder was committed by a gang of assailants who attacked Sasikumar with sickles while he was returning home ². The incident sparked communal tensions in the area, with protests and violence erupting during Sasikumar's funeral.
The police have arrested several accused in connection with the murder, including Saddam Hussain and Mubarak, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the attack ². The NIA has also filed chargesheets against two accused in the case.
