Bhubaneswar, 25 February (H.S.)Odisha in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is organizing a State level Mock Exercise on Chemical & Industrial Disaster Management on 28.02.2025 in identified 24Industrial Locations of 16 districts viz. Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kurdha, Koraput, Rayagada, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh and Mayurbhanj. The basic objective of this Mock Exercise is to streamline emergency response, review disaster management plans and evolve SOPs, identify gap areas in resource management,planning, manpower & deployment, emergency communications, first response capabilities of Government line departments and generate public awareness.

As part of the event, a Table Top Exercise (TTEx) was organized on 25.02.2025through virtual mode from State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Bhubaneswarwith the participation ofDistrict Administration of 16 districts and representative ofidentified industrieswith an aimto assess the Standard Operating Procedures(SOP), response capabilities, resource availability with different districts, industries and various state and central government organizations. The TTEx was jointly chaired by Dr. Kamal Lochan Mishra, Executive Director, OSMDA and Shri Padmanav Behera,

Additional Special Relief Commissioner and was steered by Shri Aditya Kumar, Commandant (Retd.), NDMA. Lt. General Syed Ata Hassain, Member, NDMA addressed the participants through virtual mode from New Delhi. At the SEOC, representatives from organizations like NDRF; Indian Army; Indian Air Force; Indian Navy; CISF; Odisha Police; State Forensic Science Laboratory; Fire & Emergency Service, Odisha; ODRAF; Civil Defense, Odisha; Directorate of F & B; State Pollution Control Board; Health and FW Dept., Odisha; and officials of O/o SRC and OSDMA were present. Similarly at the district level Collectors, ADMs, District Emergency Officers, and representatives from various line departments, identified industries and response forces participated. Other organizations like Indian Coast Guard, INS Chilika and State Government Departments etc. joined the TTEx through virtual mode from their locations.

Various scenarios, preparatory measures, andmodalities for conducting the Mock Exercise on Chemical & Industrial Disaster Management was discussed in detail during the TTEx.
