New Delhi, February 25 (HS): Congress MP Tanuj Poonia has alleged scam in the recruitment of teachers in Uttar Pradesh and has demanded a high-level judicial inquiry into it.

Party MP from Barabanki, Tanuj Poonia, while addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters here today, citing some media reports, claimed that a scam in the recruitment of 69 thousand teachers has come to light in Uttar Pradesh. In this recruitment, people from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes were to be recruited in 18 thousand 500 reserved seats, but reservation was implemented only on 2,637 seats out of these. Out of these reserved seats, people from unreserved category were given jobs on the remaining 15,863 seats. He called it an attack on the reservation provided in the Constitution and against social justice.

He alleged that the state government is depriving people of Dalit, Scheduled Caste and Other Backward Class society from jobs. The government also suppressed and crushed the students and teachers who raised their voice against this decision. Our leaders have been constantly talking about social justice, participation, caste census. Congress has always stood with the deprived class and will stand with them in future too. He said that Congress demands a high-level judicial inquiry into this recruitment scam.
