Pune, 25 Feb (HS):-
The bus services between Maharashtra and Karnataka remained affected for the
fifth consecutive day. The boundary disputes between the two states have led to a linguistic rift. The drivers not able to speak Kannada are not allowed in Karnataka. In response, Maharashtra protesters are not allowing Karnataka State Transport
buses to enter Maharashtra.
The buses leaving
from Swargate Bus Stand Pune are returning from Kolhapur. The Maharashtra State
Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses at Karnataka’s Chitradurg Bus Stand
were vandalized. The faces of the drivers blackened for their inability to speak
Kannada language. The action was taken by the Karnataka Navnirman Sena. In
response Shiv Sena (UBT) workers did not allow the Karnataka Transport Buses to
enter Maharashtra territory. Both the states have stopped the inter-state
transport services posing serious problems for the commuters. Heavy police
force has been deployed on the boundaries.
The paused bus
services will restart after the dispute is resolved.
