Guwahati, 25 February (HS): Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressed confidence on Tuesday that the state's economy is on track to reach USD 143 billion by 2030. Addressing the inaugural session of the ‘Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit,’ he highlighted Assam’s transformation from turmoil to tranquility.

With a projected GDP growth of 15.2% this year, Sarma invited investors to take advantage of Assam’s improving business environment. We are committed to providing a conducive atmosphere for industries, he assured an audience that included global diplomats, foreign business delegates, and Indian industry leaders.

Tracing Assam’s economic history, the CM noted how disruptions in trade routes after Independence led to economic decline. However, he credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership since 2014 for the state’s resurgence. From being the most disturbed state, Assam has now become one of the most peaceful, he remarked.

The Modi government’s push for competitive federalism, Sarma stated, is driving investment-friendly policies across states. The Prime Minister has attended seven business summits post-election, encouraging all states to grow together, he pointed out.

The two-day summit aims to showcase Assam’s investment potential, strengthening its position as a key economic hub in the region.
