Jabalpur, 24 February (HS): Six Mahakumbh pilgrims died in a road accident that took place at around 4:30 am today in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Many people were injured in the accident. Two of them are said to be in critical condition. These pilgrims from Karnataka were returning from Sangam in Prayagraj by Toofan vehicle (KA 49 M 5054) after taking bath.
According to the police, a bus hit the pilgrims' vehicle at Pahrewa under Khitola police station of Sihora in Jabalpur district. The Toofan vehicle was shattered due to the severe collision. The bodies were taken out with the help of a crane. The driver who fled with the bus after the accident has been caught near Katni. It has been told that after suddenly hitting the divider, the pilgrims' vehicle jumped and went to the four-lane road on the other side and collided head-on with the bus going to Prayagraj.
In this accident, many people travelling in the storm vehicle were badly injured. One person's head was cut off and another person's hand was cut off. According to Additional SP Suryakant Sharma, the accident was reported through Dial 100 at around 5 am. The injured have been admitted to Sihora Hospital.
