Islamabad, 24 February (HS): Akhtar Hussain, member of Pakistan Judicial Commission, resigned from his post. While submitting his resignation, he told the chairman of the commission and the Chief Justice of the country Yahya Afridi that the reason for this was controversies in the appointment process of judges.

According to the news of Geo News, Akhtar Hussain, a senior Supreme Court lawyer who resigned from the post of member of the commission, was nominated by the Pakistan Bar Council for this post thrice.

He said, I discharged my responsibility with my best ability all three times. Hussain has thanked the Pakistan Bar Council for expressing confidence.

In fact, the commission has recently appointed six new judges in the apex court amid the boycott of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPs and two senior judges of the Supreme Court. Earlier this month, the Judicial Commission had sought nominations from all the high courts.
