House proceedings adjourned twice due to uproar in the assembly

Jaipur, 24 February (HS): The proceedings of the house were adjourned twice on Monday due to uproar in the Rajasthan Assembly. As soon as the question hour started, there was uproar due to sloganeering in the well of the Congress MLAs.

Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani asked the six suspended MLAs, including Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara, to leave the house. The suspended MLAs are adamant in the house and due to the uproar, the proceedings of the house were adjourned till 12 noon.

The proceedings of the house resumed at 12 noon. But the ruckus continued .Speaker Devnani took up Zero Hour business amid the din. The proceedings could not continue for more than 13 minutes and the House was adjourned again till 1300 hrs.

The Speaker of the Assembly said that those who have been suspended should leave the house, but the six suspended MLAs did not pay attention to this. Seeing the uproar increasing, the proceedings of the house were adjourned.

Meanwhile, Marshals were called in the assembly hall to escort out the suspended members. However, agitating MLAs remained unrelenting and the Speaker Devnani, taking a sensitive approach, called the marshals back. The Congress held a demonstration outside the assembly to protest against Minister Gehlot’s remark.

Earlier in the morning, further strategy was made in the meeting of the Congress Legislature Party in the Assembly. After the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel and Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham met Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie. Even late at night, both the ministers held talks with Congress MLAs to break the deadlock.

The protest of Congress MLAs in the House continued on the fourth day on Monday. The deadlock created after Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Avinash Gehlot's comment on Indira Gandhi had escalated after the suspension of six MLAs including Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasara.
