Varanasi,
23 Feb (HS): Union External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar arrived in
Varanasi on Sunday along with delegates from 50 countries. The Foreign Minister
and the ambassadors were warmly welcomed at the Lal Bahadur Shastri
International Airport, Babatpur by Divisional Commissioner Kaushalraj Sharma,
District Magistrate S. Rajlingam, along with BJP officials and public
representatives.
Amid
tight security from the airport, the Foreign Minister and the delegates
attended the third edition of Kashi Tamil Sangam organized in the Omkar Nath
Thakur Auditorium located in the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) campus. In the
auditorium, the Foreign Minister and the Ambassadors will also interact with
the students and teachers of IIT BHU. The Foreign Minister, along with the
ambassadors, will visit various establishments in the campus including IIT BHU.
After this, they will visit the museum, Buddhist temple and excavation site in
historic Sarnath along with the guests. After the tour, they will return to
Babatpur Airport. From here, they will leave for Delhi by a special plane at 5
pm. Energy and Urban Development Minister of the state government AK Sharma had
arrived at night to receive the Foreign Minister and foreign ambassadors.
