Bhubaneswar, 23 February (H.S.)Pankaj Lochan Mohanty has been elected unopposed as the President of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) and assumed office with immediate effect. Expressing his commitment to the role, Mohanty laid out his key plans for the association.
I will work closely with the new government to expedite the renovation of stadiums that were left incomplete by the previous administration, aiming to finish the work within the next seven to eight months. I will do my best to achieve whatever is feasible, Mohanty said.
One of his major initiatives includes setting up a cricket academy in Puri that will offer year-round training to aspiring cricketers. By providing training at our own academy, we can produce skilled players in the next two to three years, he added optimistically.
Mohanty also announced that elections for the Vice President position would be held soon. Addressing the recent issues with floodlights, he stated that the OCA has clarified the matter with the government. To prevent similar incidents in the future, Mohanty revealed plans to install two generators near each floodlight point to ensure continuous power supply.
