Washington, February 22 (HS): United States President Donald J. Trump on Friday sacked Army's Joint Chiefs Chairman General Charles Q. Brown Jr. amid weeks of turmoil in the Pentagon. This is the first time that the country's senior military officer has been removed in this way when the administration changes.

According to The New York Times, traditionally the role of the country's top military officer is not tampered with even when the administration changes. General Charles Q. Brown Jr. is a four-star fighter pilot. He was the second African-American to hold this post. He will be replaced by retired three-star Air Force General Dan Kane.

Trump said in a message on Truth Social, Today, I am honored to announce that I am nominating Air Force Lieutenant General Dan Kane as the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
