Bhubaneswar, 22 February (H.S.): A daring robbery took place on Friday night in Mathanuagaon village, under the Khaira police station jurisdiction, where robbers looted gold and silver ornaments valued at Rs 10 lakh from the residence of an army personnel.
The army man, Rajesh Chandra Shial, who is currently stationed in Jammu and Kashmir, had left his family at their home in Balasore. His family members were attending a wedding in the village when the robbers broke into the house. The thieves forcibly opened the back door and entered the house. They then pried open a wardrobe and made off with the valuables before fleeing the scene.
The theft was discovered when Rajesh’s relative, Minati Shial, returned and filed a complaint with the Khaira police station. Following the complaint, Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Sachindra Mahalik of Khaira Police Station arrived at the scene to investigate the matter.
During their escape, the robbers left behind a knife and an iron axe, which were believed to have been used in the robbery
