Chennai, 22 February (H.S.) : The international ferry service between Nagapattinam, India, and Kangesanthurai, Sri Lanka, resumed operations on Saturday after a 109-day suspension due to monsoon. The ferry, Sivagangai, departed from Nagapattinam Port with 83 passengers.

Subhashree Sundararaj, Director of Subham Ferry, stated that the service will operate six days a week, with reduced fares of ₹8,500 per round trip. The ferry has a maximum seating capacity of 150 passengers.

To enhance the travel experience, Subham Ferry will offer complimentary meals and plans to introduce a duty-free shop on board. Additionally, the company aims to add a new ferry with a 250-passenger capacity to its fleet.

The ferry service, which was relaunched in 2023 after a four-decade hiatus, is expected to strengthen relations between India and Sri Lanka and increase passenger traffic between the two countries.
