Jaipur, 22 February (HS): Congress legislators continued their sit-in protest in the Rajasthan Assembly after six party MLAs, including Govind Singh Dotasra, were suspended following a minister's remark on Indira Gandhi.
During the question hour in the assembly on Friday, the Congress had created a ruckus over the comment made by Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Avinash Gehlot on Indira Gandhi.
Avinash Gehlot had said in response to question that in 2023-24, the scheme was named after your dadi.
Amid slogan-shouting and a demand for an apology by Congress MLAs, the Assembly was adjourned thrice and six Congress MLAs were suspended for the remainder of the Budget session.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel insisted that there was nothing unparliamentary about the word 'dadi'.
The deadlock in the assembly has now intensified at the political level. Congress will protest in all the districts on Saturday against the remarks made against Indira Gandhi and the suspension of six MLAs. The effigy of the minister will be burnt.
The protest is likely to continue till Monday. As the assembly is closed on Saturday and Sunday there are chances of the protest going on till then.
