Chennai, 22 February (H.S.): The Chennai airport has installed a new Instrument Landing System (ILS) to ensure safer and more accurate flight landings. The upgrade, which cost Rs 8 crore, includes new systems at both ends of the runway, enhancing navigation technology and operational efficiency.

The installation process, which began in June 2024, was completed by October 2024, just in time for the winter season. Officials emphasized the importance of replacing the landing system every decade to maintain optimal performance.

This upgrade underscores the Airports Authority of India's (AAI) commitment to enhancing aviation safety and operational efficiency at one of India's busiest airports.
