Chennai, 22 February (H.S.) : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rachna Reddy has criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for politicizing the issue of the three-language policy. Reddy questioned the CM's stance, asking, What is wrong about being multi-lingual?
Reddy emphasized that nobody is taking away Tamil from the state and that students should be taught their mother language along with the national language and any other language. She accused CM Stalin of being anti-national and teaching divisive ideology to students.
The row over the three-language policy has escalated into a heated debate between the Tamil Nadu government and the Centre. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has clarified that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 does not recommend imposing any language on a state.
The issue has taken on political significance ahead of the 2026 elections, with the DMK and BJP engaging in a fierce debate over language policy and funding for Tamil Nadu.
