New Delhi, 21 February (HS): Indian squash star Saurav Ghosal entered the semi-finals of the Octane Sydney Classic on Friday. This is his first tournament after returning from retirement.
Former world number 10 Ghosal retired from the PSA (Professional Squash Association) Tour in April last year but he said that he still wants to represent India. On January 1, he again became a member of the PSA Tour to keep his desire of playing for the country alive.
38-year-old Ghosal, who finished second in the PSA Challenger Tour (second level of the professional circuit), got a bye in the first round. He defeated Malta's Kizan Sultana 3-0 (11-8, 11-2, 11-8) in the second round and then beat Korea's Minwoo Lee 3-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-5) in the quarterfinals.
Ghosal, who has won a total of 12 medals in various categories of the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, will face third-ranked Australian Rhys Dowling on Saturday for a place in the final.
