mphal, 21 February (HS): Security forces in Manipur arrested several rebels in different operations and recovered huge quantities of arms, ammunition and drugs.
Police said on Friday that security forces arrested 13 rebels of the KYKL outfit group from Moirang Kiam Leikai under Moirang police station area in Bishnupur district. The arrested insurgents were identified as Khwairakpam Rojit alias Chingsanglakpa Singh (26), Kongkham Hamlet alias Thongba Singh (27), Laishangthem Amarjit alias Nongpok Nangba Singh (24), Khwairakpam Bikram alias Rex Singh (42), Soiban Deepak Singh (33), Laishram Inderkumar alias Boni alias Nangba Meitei (36), Konthoujam Swamjit alias Thoujan Singh (36), Heesnam Premananda alias Rocky Meitei (33), Khundongbam Nimai Singh (29), Naorem Amarjit alias Thanil Singh (28), Abujam Ringku alias Thawairakpa Meitei (24), Moirangthem Inao alias Robin Singh (44) and Huiirongbam Ibomcha alias Athoi alias Pamel Meitei (18).
During their arrest, the security forces recovered a total of 27 live cartridges of various calibers of 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm, three walkie-talkies, four chargers, 31 pairs of jungle boots, nine mobile phones, camouflage clothes and other tactical items.
Besides, an active member of KCP (PWG) outfit Mohammed Harish (21) was arrested from Phaidinga under Sekmai police station area.
In another operation, two persons were arrested near Sericulture Gate No. 2 under Kwakta Phougkachao Ikhai police station area in Bishnupur district. They were identified as Moicingmayum Farid (28) and Mohammed Amar Shah (29). 1.866 kgs of suspected brown sugar was recovered from them.
At the same time, Khaidem Benarjit Singh alias Amuba (28), an active rebel of KCP (City Meitei) outfit group was arrested from Ibudhou Khonghaba Thangjing Laikon, Nagaikhong Khullen under Bishnupur police station area. Two mobile phones and an Aadhar card were recovered from him.
Hemam Bebeshwar Singh alias Paming (30), an active member of UNLF (P) organization was arrested from Chingyang Lairenbi Ima Keithel, Nagarian Ching under Andro police station area of Imphal East district. He was involved in extortion from the general public, government officials and private firms. A bag, two military uniforms, a military shoe, two mobile phones and a wallet were recovered from him.
Besides, another active rebel of KYKL outfit group Mayangalambam Kiran Singh alias Tikendrajit (43) was arrested from Kakching Sumak Leikai under Kakching police station area. He was involved in extortion in Imphal West and Kakching area. A mobile phone was recovered from him.
Continuous operations by security forces in Manipur have dealt a major blow to insurgent organizations.
