Jammu, 21 February (H.S.): The indefinite strike launched by the PDD /JPDCL daily wagers outside the office of MD JPDCL near Panama Chowk on Railway Road in Jammu continued on the fifth consecutive day.

Despite rain, the PDL TDL workers from various parts of Jammu working in various Corporations of unbundled Power Development Department assembled in the complex of Managing Director JPDCL and held protest demonstration, over the issue of non- resolution of discrepancies in recommendations of Divisional Level Committee placed before Board of JPDCL regarding age relaxation and their regularization.

Akhil Sharma president of the Union said that in the recently held Board meeting, it has come to fore that a major error has taken place, where in the recommendation placed before the Board of JPDCL have erroneously shown “409 out of 423” eligible candidates all requiring age or qualification relaxation due to faulty application of relaxation criteria. Whereas, as per the Regularisation Rules 2022 vetted by Law Department, the age relaxation in the case of regularisation from daily wager source of feeding pool, the age at the time of engagement as daily wager is reckoned as date of eligibility for regularisation and if anyone on date of engagement is falling outside the Bracket of 18-40 years of age , he or she is to be put up as age relaxation case. However in the affore said exercise of DLC, 409 have been erroneously clubbed in the age/qualification bracket with a reason that at the time of consideration by DLC, the age of candidate has exceeded above 40 years of age, which is to be corrected.

By virtue of this recommendation, anyone having age of 18-37 only can get regularised and rest have to be granted age relaxation which is not the intent of the Govt rules. By application of this recommendation, it would be impossible for any daily rated worker to get regularised as it suffers from error.

The Union has urged the authorities to kindly bring this error in black and white before the Chairman /Principal Secretary PDD to seek his permission to resubmit the revised agenda of DLC in the Board and withhold the recommendation of Board in respect of the afforesaid agenda point- regularisation of PDL/TDL workers.
