Sao Paulo, February 21 (HS): Chelsea forward Deivid Washington has returned to his former club Santos on a 10-month loan, the Brazilian Serie A team said on Thursday.
Santos said in a brief statement that the agreement includes an option for Santos to keep the 19-year-old on a permanent contract when the loan expires. Washington has featured just three times for Chelsea since his 20 million euro transfer from the South American giants in August 2023.
Despite a lack of opportunities with the London club, Washington was a key member of the Brazil team that won the South American Under-20 Championship in Venezuela earlier this month.
He is Santos' 11th new signing this year along with Neymar, Luisao, Ze Evaldo, Leonardo Godoy, Ze Rafael, Thaciano, Alvaro Barreal, Benjamin Rolheiser, Tiquinho Soares and Gabriel Veron.
