Guwahati, 20 February (HS): Responding to questions of MLA Dharmeshwar Konwar regarding Act East Policy Affairs in the Assam Assembly, Minister Chandramohan Patwari said that India is strengthening its relations with South-East Asian countries economically, strategically and culturally under the Act East Policy.
He said that under this policy, work is being done on important projects like India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway, Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Project and BBIN Motor Vehicle Agreement. Also, India-ASEAN cooperation is also being taken forward through high-level discussions.
The minister also informed that the Assam government has succeeded in getting the historical Maidams of Charaideo included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, making this place a center of attraction for tourists from South-East Asia. The state government is also working towards promoting tourism and reviving historical relations.
