New Delhi, 20 February (HS): Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu on Thursday launched the Electronic Personnel License (EPL) for pilots at Udan Bhavan in New Delhi. With this, India has become the second country in the world to implement EPL for crew members. China has already implemented such a facility.
On this occasion, K. Ram Mohan Naidu said that India has become the second country in the world to digitize pilot licenses. Now our pilots can safely access their licenses at any time through the EGCA app with seamless real-time verification for global agencies. This is a big change for Indian aviation.
The implementation of the Electronic Personnel License (EPL) by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is in line with the government's ease of doing business and Digital India initiative. The Electronic Personnel License is an important step towards modernization of civil aviation in the country and enhancing safety, security and efficiency. It is in line with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) framework for modern aviation governance and reflects the country's readiness to be future-ready.
Civil Aviation Secretary Vumlunmung Vualnam and DGCA Director General (DG) Faiz Ahmed Kidwai were also present on the occasion.
