Mumbai, February 19 (HS): Police have arrested a fugitive Naxalite commander from Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh from Lakadganj area of Yavatmal district. He was living in Yavatmal as a truck driver for the last 23 years on the basis of fake Aadhar card and driving license. Police was keeping a close watch on him for the last two months.
Yavatmal district Superintendent of Police Kumar Chinta told reporters on Wednesday that his team had received confidential information that Tulsi alias Dilip Mahato was living in Yavatmal as a truck driver for the last 23 years on the basis of documents like fake Aadhar card and driving license. Police was keeping a close watch on Tulsi for the last two months. Tulsi joined the Naxalite group in Jharkhand in 1993. In 1997, he was appointed divisional commander of 'Bhitiya Dalam'. He led 12 armed Naxalites. He is involved in many violent activities, including attacks on security forces, extortion and vandalism of government property.
Superintendent of Police Chinta said that according to the records of Jharkhand Police, seven serious crimes are registered against him. Superintendent of Police of Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand has identified Tulsi. Kumar Chinta said that Tulsi went to Mumbai to avoid police action and then came to Yavatmal district from there. After this, Tulsi came to Lakadganj area of Yavatmal to hide his identity. After this, Tulsi made an identity card by putting his photo on the Aadhar card of a dead person. On this basis, Tulsi obtained his driving license. After this, Tulsi also got married for the second time in Yavatmal, while his family was in Jharkhand.
