New Delhi, February 19 (HS): Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge told the top leaders of the party here today that all of them will be held accountable for the organization of the states under their charge and the results of future elections. Along with this, he also warned against party hoppers.
Kharge was addressing the meeting of national general secretaries and state in-charges at the party headquarters in Indira Bhawan here today after the shameful defeat of the Congress in the Delhi Assembly elections.
He urged the party leaders to work at the grassroots level and strengthen the party from the booth level and promote such people who are ideologically committed to the organization. The organization will have to be strengthened from the state headquarters to the booth as soon as possible. For this work, one will have to go to the booth himself, work hard and establish contact with the workers. If you yourself go to the booth, mandal and block level, district and state level at the grassroots level, you will be able to add new people there. You will be able to bring along people who are trustworthy and strong in their thoughts. The party's affiliated organizations will have to be made partners in this.
Talking about the workers' organization INTUC, Kharge said, they are an important part of us, make them partners in the organization building. You can bring forward such people who can be very useful for the party but have not got the opportunity.
He said , we should promote such people who are committed to the ideals of Congress, who stand with us like a rock even in adverse circumstances. These days the party's 'Samvidhan Bachao Abhiyan' is going on. We had decided on the Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan program in Belgaum. This will continue for the next one year. Under this, activities like padayatra, dialogue, street meetings can be conducted but the aim of every such program should be the empowerment of the organization.
Kharge mentioned Rahul Gandhi's question in the Lok Sabha, in which Rahul had raised the issue of manipulation of voter lists in elections. Similarly, there was a discussion about removing CJI from the selection committee of Chief Election Commissioner.
He said, Modi government has failed to stop rising inflation and unemployment in the country. Raising the issue of deportation of illegal immigrants by America, he said that Modi government could not register protest properly. America is also hurting us deeply in economic matters. They imposed reverse tariff on us but the Prime Minister did not even protest against it. America is forcibly imposing a loss-making deal on us, which our government is silently accepting. This is clearly an insult to India and its people.
Kharge stressed , In view of the situation in the country, our effort should be to emerge in the role of main opposition by continuously fighting and making mass movements on public issues. Only then will we become the first choice of the people.
