New Delhi, February 18 (HS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a review meeting on the implementation of three new criminal laws in Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Apart from Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, many senior officials of the Union Territory including Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan were present in the meeting.

On the review meeting of the Union Home Minister, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, while talking to journalists, said that the Home Minister has been constantly reviewing the criminal laws implemented in the country and how much they are being used. In this regard, this time it was the turn of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, 11 states and union territories were reviewed.

He said that to a large extent, the role of Jammu and Kashmir was good in the implementation of these laws. Wherever there has been a little deficiency, it has been mentioned and it will be rectified. As far as the elected government is concerned, it is not our responsibility to implement the law in the Union Territory but since these are new laws and people should be aware of the law, the elected government has to make some progress.
