New Delhi, February 18 (HS): The Delhi High Court has dismissed former Congress MP Sandeep Dixit's civil defamation case of Rs 10 crore against former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena and Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh. The High Court said that the court fee for the civil defamation case filed by the petitioner has not been deposited, so there is no justification for hearing his petition.
Sandeep Dixit had said in his petition that Atishi Marlena and Sanjay Singh held a press conference on 26 December 2024, in which it is alleged that Sandeep Dixit has taken crores of rupees from the BJP. In this press conference, it was alleged that Sandeep Dixit is involved in conspiring with the BJP to defeat the Aam Aadmi Party. The petition said that whatever Atishi Marlena and Sanjay Singh said in the press conference is false and baseless.
It was said in the petition that an attempt has been made to tarnish the image of Sandeep Dixit through the statements of Atishi and Sanjay Singh. On January 16, the Rouse Avenue Court had issued notice to Atishi Marlena and Sanjay Singh on the criminal defamation petition of Sandeep Dixit in this case. Rouse Avenue Court had issued summons to Atishi Marlena and Sanjay Singh.
In the recent Delhi Assembly elections, Sandeep Dixit contested from New Delhi seat against Arvind Kejriwal. Both Sandeep Dixit and Kejriwal lost from New Delhi seat and BJP's Pravesh Verma won.
