Kathmandu, February 18 (HS): Two security personnel involved in the beating and misbehavior of Nepali students at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in Bhubaneswar, Odisha on Sunday night have been sacked and three officials of the administration have been suspended till the investigation is completed due to the tension created after the suicide of a Nepali girl student and the security personnel there have been suspended.
After the suicide of the Nepali girl student, the local police have also arrested a student of the same institute. The officials of the institute's administration not only misbehaved with the Nepali students who were protesting against this incident, but also issued a notice on Monday and instructed them to vacate the hostel immediately. About 1500 students from Nepal study in this institute.
After instructing the students to vacate the hostel, the security personnel present there beat them up. Seeing the matter getting serious, the campus administration dismissed two security personnel involved in the beating with immediate effect. Also, KIIT said in a statement that the administration has suspended three officials including the hostel warden for misbehaving and abusing the Nepali students.
The statement said that withdrawing its earlier decision to vacate the hostel, all Nepali students have been appealed to return immediately and continue their studies. The local police has also appealed to bring back the Nepali students who were taken to the stations of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The Police Commissioner of Bhubaneswar has also guaranteed the safety of all Nepali students and appealed to them to return to their hostel.
