- Union Budget 2025-26 is the roadmap to a developed India: Arjun Ram Meghwal
Guwahati, 18 February (HS): Union Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has said that the Union Budget is a roadmap to make India a developed nation by 2047. Meghwal was addressing a press conference at the Public Works Department Convention Hall in the capital Dispur on Tuesday. State BJP President Dilip Saikia, Chandramohan Patwari of Assam Government, Ajanta Neog and Party spokesman Manoj Barua etc. were also present on this occasion.
He said that the Union Budget 2025-26 is based on four major engines - agricultural development, investment, promotion of MSMEs and export and industrial development.
He said that the first engine is agricultural development, in which special provisions have been made for the farmers of Northeast and Assam. The second engine is investment, which will encourage both public and private investment. The government is investing heavily on railways, hospitals and infrastructure, which will increase employment and economic activity. The third engine is to strengthen the MSME sector, with steps such as increasing loan limits and implementing new definitions. The fourth engine has been kept to boost exports and accelerate industrial development.
He said India has entered the era of Industry 4.0, where technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, 3D printing and Internet of Things have been given special place in the budget.
Emphasizing on the development of Assam, he said the state has received more financial allocation in the budget than before. 60 railway stations are being modernized under the Amrit Bharat Yojana, while air connectivity will be improved under the Udan scheme.
On the issue of inflation, he said the government has been successful in controlling the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and food inflation. Inflation has been kept under control despite Covid and the Russia-Ukraine war.
Rejecting the opposition's criticism, he said the government was carrying out comprehensive economic reforms by giving tax relief to agriculture, MSMEs and the middle class.
