Kane Williamson signs two-year deal with Middlesex

London, February 17 (HS): Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has signed a two-year contract with English county club Middlesex. He will be seen playing in the T20 Blast and County Championship for the club during the 2025 English summer.

This will be Williamson's third county stint in England. He previously represented Gloucestershire in 2011-12 and Yorkshire between 2013-2018.

Williamson will be available for at least 10 of the 14 group matches of the T20 Blast. Apart from this, he will also take part in at least five County Championship matches in the second half of the season.

Apart from this, this experienced New Zealand batsman will also be seen playing for London Spirit in 'The Hundred' tournament from May to September.

Middlesex finished third in Division Two of the 2024 County Championship. The club will now be eyeing promotion to Division-1. At the same time, their performance in the Vitality T20 Blast was poor, where they finished eighth out of nine teams in the South Group.

Expressing his happiness over the deal with Middlesex, Williamson said, I have played some county cricket in the past, but not for many years now. When this opportunity of Middlesex came, it was really exciting. Playing at Lord's, the home of cricket, will be special for me.

Middlesex management's response

Middlesex's Director of Cricket Alan Coleman described Williamson's arrival as a major achievement for the club. He said, We are extremely excited about Kane joining Middlesex this summer. He will have a positive impact on our T20 Blast and Championship campaigns. It is a great success for us to have one of the best players in the world in the team.

Middlesex's hopes increased

With the presence of Kane Williamson, Middlesex will not only hope for promotion in the County Championship, but will also increase the chances of better performance in the T20 Blast. Now it remains to be seen to what heights the legendary New Zealand batsman takes the team with his experience in the English summer.
