New Delhi, February 17 (HS): The case of stampede at New Delhi Railway Station on February 15 has reached the Supreme Court. A petition has been filed demanding that the Center and all the states together form an expert committee, which prepares guidelines for crowd management and stampede prevention.

In the petition filed by lawyer Vishal Tiwari, it has been demanded to direct the Indian Railways to take measures for the safety of passengers at railway stations and platforms. The petition states that the corridors of the railway station should be widened, large overbridges and platforms should be built, easy access to the platforms should be ensured through ramps and escalators. The petition states that any change in the arrival or departure platforms should be strictly avoided during busy hours.

18 people are reported to have died in the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station on February 15. The reason for the stampede is being told to be the sudden change of platform of the train going to Prayagraj. This matter is still under investigation.
