Bareilly, 6 Dec (HS): The
administration swung into action on Saturday morning after receiving
information about the illegal presence of Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals in
the district. A joint police and administration team conducted a large-scale
search operation on the Pilibhit bypass road in the Baradari police station
area. Significantly, the operation was led not by a subordinate officer but by
District Magistrate Avinash Singh and SSP Anurag Arya themselves. City
Superintendent of Police Manush Pareekh was also present at the scene with the
teams.
During
the operation, which began at 7 a.m., a convoy of officers visited slums,
temporary shelters, shops, and construction sites along the Pilibhit bypass.
Conducted in collaboration with Intelligence, ATS, and several police units,
suspects were identified and questioned. Several people were detained and taken
to the police station for lack of documents.
District
Magistrate Avinash Singh stated clearly that those living illegally in the
district will not be spared. SSP Anurag Arya stated that the purpose of this
exercise is to strengthen the security system and prevent suspicious
activities. The campaign certainly created panic in the area, but most locals
welcomed it. Officials said the crackdown will continue.
